Prof. Cao Zexian, born in 1966, is currently a senior research scientist at the institute of physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing. He received his bachelor (1987) and master (1990) degree of physics at University o f Science and Technology of China, and he got the PhD degree in 1997 at the department of physics, University Kaiserslautern, Germany. He has published over 90 peer-reviewed papers on international journals and a few books including Etymologicon for Chinese Physics Learners (two volumes), Thin Film Growth, The beautiful invisible (trans.), etc. He is also a freelance writer of physics.
