Prof. Qinlin Guo graduated from Peking University in 1978, and obtained his M.S. (1981) and Ph.D. (1994) in physical chemistry from Peking University. He was served as lecturer and associate professor in Peking University from 1981 to 1998, and joined Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1999. As a post-doctor, assistant professor and visiting scholar, he worked in Department of Chemistry, H.C. Ørsted Institute, University of Copenhagen in Denmark; Department of Chemistry, Texas A&M University in USA; Fritz-Haber-Institut der Max-Planck-Gesellschaft, Berlin in Germany and Physics Department, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

He has tremendous experience in surface science using ultra high vacuum surface analysis techniques including electron spectroscopies (AES, EELS, HREELS, LEED, and STM), photoelectron spectroscopies (XPS, UPS and Synchrotron Beam), ion source spectroscopies (SIMS and ISS) and temperature programmed desorption (TPD). His research work is mainly focused on surface physics and chemistry including surface dispersion，surface components and structure in various materials; electronic structure; surface chemisorption and desorption; catalyical mechanism; interaction between element/molecule and support; nano-metal and ordered oxide films growth.
